The further we drove in the direction of the Namaqualand the more evident the intensity of the drought became. Our eyes were met by hectares and hectares of dust where once I am sure flowers bloomed. The flowers for which the Namaqualand is most famous. Sadly, no flowers could be seen until we arrived at the location where Zynonisa was getting ready. Everything fell into place when we met her.
As the day progressed I started seeing the beauty that lies within the drought. The Namaqualand is a remarkable landscape.
The ceremony was very meaningful. Richard's little brother stole the show by falling asleep by his feet. These are the moments that I love most.
One of my favourite elements of the day was the beautiful dresses and shoes worn by the bride and bridesmaids. I enjoyed how splendid they looked against the very dry background.
I could not help but fall in love with this beautiful couple who obviously adores one another. Their day was not exactly what they had envisioned with the terrible drought (Richard told us that it rained a total of 6mm te entire year and that he had to let most of his livestock go) but everything came together beautifully and it is a wedding celebration that I will never forget.
Dankie Zyno en Richard, julle is ongelooflike mense. Dankie vir n epic dag. Ons hoop die sluise van die hemel maak binnekort oop vir die broodnodige reen.
